Seray Cagla Keles Elbasan (MA, EDCP) wins outstanding Barbara Brown Paper Award

Seray Cagla Keles Elbasan has won the student award (MA category) for the outstanding Barbara Brown Paper at the North American Sociology of Sport conference. Her paper entitled Climbing as a Woman: A Feminist Phenomenological Exploration of Turkish Women Climbers’ Embodied Experiences was recognized at the North American Society for the Sociology of Sport (NASSS), held in both Vancouver and Seattle, Nov. 6-8th, 2025. NASSS is a leading international scholarly community that exists to promote, stimulate, and encourage the sociological study of play, games, sport and contemporary physical culture.

The Critical Play Fellows comprise an interdisciplinary community of graduate students, faculty members, industry professionals, and independent designers for monthly programming that explores the intersections of digital and analog gaming cultures, pedagogy and critical theory.
