Welcome to the Department of Curriculum and Pedagogy (EDCP) in the Faculty of Education at the University of British Columbia.
EDCP is a community of scholars, educators, students, and staff committed to advancing teaching, learning, curriculum, and educational research in ways that matter locally, nationally, and globally. Our work spans disciplinary and interdisciplinary fields, bringing together diverse perspectives to address complex educational questions and challenges. Our faculty members are internationally recognized for their contributions to curriculum studies, teacher education, subject-matter education, educational leadership, historical consciousness, digital learning, sustainability, health education, and the scholarship of teaching and learning.
As a department, we are united by a belief that education has the power to transform individuals, communities, and societies. We strive to create learning environments that foster curiosity, critical inquiry, creativity, and meaningful engagement across differences. We are deeply invested in supporting the success of our students and in preparing educators and researchers who will contribute thoughtfully and ethically to an increasingly interconnected world.
EDCP offers a rich range of undergraduate and graduate programs that prepare educators, researchers, and leaders across many fields, including social studies, mathematics, science, technology, arts education, physical and health education, and curriculum studies. Through our teaching, research, and community partnerships, we seek to bridge boundaries between theory and practice, between disciplines, and between the university and the broader communities we serve.
