Dear Colleagues,
Please join me in congratulating Professor Rita Irwin and her graduate student supervisees in Art Education for receiving the following Awards at this year’s Canadian Society for the Study of Education (CSSE) Conference in Toronto:
Rita Irwin received the ARTS SIG Lifetime Achievement Award.
Anna Ryoo received the ARTS SIG Outstanding Dissertation Award.
Yuko Stooshnov received the ARTS SIG Outstanding Master’s Thesis Award.
Barbara Bickel [PhD Alum] received the ARTS SIG Outstanding Publication Award.
Note: ARTS SIG is a member association of Canadian Association for Curriculum Studies (CACS) within the CSSE.
Also, Professor Irwin received the following Awards from AERA and CSEA:
- 2023, Outstanding Achievement in Arts and Learning Award from the American Educational Research Association (AERA) Arts and Learning SIG.
- 2022, Lifetime Achievement Award from the Canadian Society for Education through Art (CSEA).
This is remarkable to have not only one, but three UBC art education graduate students recognized in the same year. All were supervised by Professor Rita Irwin who also is recognized by receiving three prestigious lifetime and outstanding achievement awards from key North American associations in recognition of her long-standing and distinguished achievements.
Once again colleagues, let us congratulate Professor Irwin and the three Art Education graduate students for being exemplar models among our EDCP community.
