You are invited to the annual EDCP Welcome Back Barbecue on Thursday, September 18th, 2014 from 11:30 to 1:00 p.m. Venue is the garden at the west entrance of the Scarfe Building.

This will be the first Welcome Back Barbecue since the death of Katharine Borgen. Katharine was a member of the Mathematics Education group who served with much energy and enthusiasm on the department’s social committee. Indeed, her contribution to the annual Welcome Back Barbecue in September was so central that the committee has recommended that we give tribute to Katharine’s service by naming the Welcome Back Barbecue in her honour. I have consulted with Bill Borgen about this and he is delighted with this move to honour his late spouse. Accordingly, Bill has agreed to attend the start of this year’s Welcome Back Barbecue at 11:30 am at which there will be a very brief ceremony honouring Katharine Borgen’s contribution.
