We Are All Related: Art, Ancestry and The Environment
The program runs for six Saturdays from January 26 to March 2, 2012, 10–11:30 a.m.
Classes are open to children ages 5 to 10 and are held in the Neville Scarfe Education Building, Room 1128 on the main UBC campus. Children will participate in workshops that explore a variety of methods of creating art, including drawing, painting, print making, collage etc.
The curriculum will involve childrens’ explorations about connections to family, cultural heritage and interdependence with the natural world. The program will focus on the theme of identifying how children make connections and respond through art to the interweaving of the family, culture and belonging, with life systems which sustain us: air, earth, water, sun and love.
There will be an art show and celebration for these young artists, family and friends (March 2).
The cost is $50 per child (cheques made payable to UBC Children’s Art Program). To register please email Scott Cartmill at scott.cartmill@ubc.ca with full name, age and contact information.
