New Journal Article by E. Wayne Ross, Sandra Delgado and Michelle Gautreaux

Colleagues,

Please join me in congratulating E. Wayne Ross and his co-authors, Sandra Delgado and Michelle Gautreaux (Wayne’s PhD students), on the publication of their journal article.

Sandra Ximena Delgado Betancourt, Michelle Gautreaux, & E. Wayne Ross. (2016). La literatura infantil como herramienta para enseñar cuestiones relativas al poder, la tiranía y la justicia social [Children’s literature as a tool to teach issues of power, tyranny and social justice]. Íber: Didáctica de las Ciencias Socials, Geografia e Historia, 82, 50-55.

Abstract:
This paper proposes the use of stories for children and youth as an alternative to incorporate critical social perspectives in the classroom, with a focus on social justice. Through examples the authors show how children’s literature facilitates classroom explorations of power, tyranny and justice.

Íber: Didáctica de las Ciencias Socials, Geografia e Historia is one of the world’s leading Spanish language social studies education journals and is published in Barcelona, Spain.
