Abstract:

Recent field work at a teacher education institution in Norway will be the focus of Dr. Hansen’s seminar. The results of a pilot study (2008) involving six inventors in southern Ontario showed that ingenuity is influenced more by family than by education. Early schooling in Norway is unique, and different from what we have in Canada. Preliminary evidence suggests that it is possible to nurture creativity/ingenuity in formal education institutions. We may need to re-culture the schools and teacher education, however, in order to increase the creative thinking skills of our students.
