Please join me in congratulating Dr. Rita Irwin who will be receiving the Sir Herbert Read Award from the International Society for Education through Art (InSEA) at their upcoming World Congress 2022 to be held later this spring. Sir Herbert Read was an English art historian, poet, literary critic and philosopher best known for his many books on art and art in education. One of his best known books is ‘Education through Art’ (1943) where he articulated how every child and adult had creative and artistic capacity that needed to be expressed. Dr. Irwin is selected for this award for making significant lifetime contributions to art education.
