Colleagues,
It is my distinct pleasure to inform you of the important public intellectual role that Wayne Ross has recently been playing in the current teachers’ dispute in the province. This morning (Thursday July 10, 2014) he appeared on CBC Radio’s The Current discussing class size research and related education policy in British Columbia. The thirty-minute segment included an exchange with Russ Whitehurst of Brookings Institute (a Washington DC private nonprofit organization devoted to independent research and innovative policy solutions). http://www.cbc.ca/thecurrent/episode/2014/07/10/bc-teachers-strike-does-size-matter-when-it-comes-to-public-school-classes/
Wayne has also conducted a CBC Radio (July 3, 2014), background interview with Jeff Turner, producer for The Current, on class size research and the politics of education policy, and also appeared on CFNR (Canada’s First Nations Radio) where he was interviewed (June 30, 2014) on BC teachers strike developments on the last day that the government’s offer of $1,200 signing bonus was in effect.
Please join me in congratulating Wayne on these successful knowledge mobilization media exploits.
Best, Peter
