Congratulations to National and Regional Award Winners

Please join me in congratulating three of our colleagues who have recently been given national and regional awards.

Congratulations go to two of our colleagues in Art Education who have recently been given awards by the National Art Education Association (NAEA). Kit Grauer has been chosen as the NAEA National Art Educator award recipient for her leadership, commitment and service to the profession. Rita Irwin has been named the NAEA Pacific Region Higher Education Art Educator Award winner and has also been awarded the NAEA Elliot Eisner Lifetime Achievement Award (a tremendous honor, only the third time the award has been given). These awards bring considerable kudos both to Kit and Rita, and to the department.

Congratulations also go to PhD Candidate June Kaminski (supervisor Stephen Petrina) who is the 2012 recipient of the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing’s (CASN) prestigious E-Health Award. June is an Instructor in Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s Faculty of Community and Health Studies. She has been an established national leader in e-health and nursing informatics throughout her career and this award recognizes her long-standing and ground-breaking achievements. For the press release at Kwantlen, see

Hearty congratulations to Kit, Rita, and June.

Best, Peter
