Beloved, respected, and original visionary is Japanese-Canadian Dr. Ted Tetsuo Aoki (1919-2012). Ted’s life as lived within the 20th and 21st centuries manifests transformative promise for curriculum studies, teaching, and education.
As a former UBC student and a twice returning distinguished scholar, Ted belongs here at The University of British Columbia, with roots reaching far and running deep. Ted describes his experiences of returning home as a circular journey, a turning homeward that offers potential for seeing anew.
On Thursday May 14th, you are cordially invited to come to UBC! Join Dr. Jennifer S. Thom (UVic) (EDCP Graduate) as she returns to introduce the SSHRC-funded study Walk With Me Now. As PI for this 5-year project, she and her team members Drs. William Pinar, Franc Feng, Patricia Liu Baergon (TRU), and Nicole Lee (NSCAD) (EDCP Graduates) pay tribute to Dr. Ted Tetsuo Aoki, honouring his hopes for becoming more human.
