Dr. Douglas Adler | From Campus to Classroom: A study of elementary teacher candidates’ pedagogical content knowledge (Supervisor, Dr. S. Nashon)
In this study, Dr. Adler explored a cohort of elementary teacher candidates’ Pedagogical Content Knowledge and how it was
influenced before, during, and after participation in a science methods course and extended practicum experience in a 12-month teacher education programme at a University in Western Canada.
Abstract:
Dr. Marian Archibald | The inclusion of musical knowledge and perspecves of a First Naon in three Ontario mainstream schools (Supervisor, Dr. J. Scott Goble)
Dr. Archibald explored understandings concerning the school teaching of music of a First Nation as provided by cultural practitioners of a First Nation and teachers. Her research illustrates epistemic discrepancies and contrasting pedagogical values and demonstrates the need for broadening conceptions of teaching and learning the musics of First Nations in schools.
