By a Thread is a chapbook. I wrote this collection in the last two years while studying and writing poetry with mentorship from poet and artist Andrea Dancer. My collaborative research and teaching in Dadaab Refugee Camp inspired much of the work. For me, writing poetry provoked inquiry into challenges this community in refuge faces. Characters spoke to me inside the poems––strong, resilient individuals.
