We are extremely pleased to announce that Ofira Roll, doctoral candidate in the Department of Curriculum and Pedagogy, is one of the recipients for this year’s University Neighbourhood Association (UNA) Community Volunteer Award.
The award committee recognized Ofira’s outstanding public service in the following terms:
“The nominations for Ofira come from school principals, class teachers, a residence manager, and co-workers, but mostly, from parents and neighbours, who have been touched and motivated by the enthusiasm and dedication of Ofira’s work. Ofira has many volunteer titles: Volunteer leader of the UTown Walk’n Roll to school project; Organizer of a co-op daycare Joycare and a month of hot dinners for new moms; Founder of the Sisters’ Walk against sexual assaults; and Let’s Play Music volunteer at school. She is a “person of substance” in the community, and her action-oriented activism has made an enormous impact in the UTown community, all of which have improved the physical and social well-being of people in the campus community.”
Sincere congratulations, Ofira!
Best, Peter
