You may remember that early in June, Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her sixtieth anniversary on the British throne. She is also the Queen of Canada and in recognition of the diamond jubilee celebration, special medals were cut to recognize the service of outstanding Canadians. One such medal has been awarded to our own Canada Research Chair, Professor Peter Seixas. Last week Peter received from the Governor General of Canada, Dr. David Johnston, a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for "dedicated service to your peers, to your community and to Canada."
Please join me in congratulating Peter Seixas on this timely recognition of his service to the academic community of Canada. I am delighted that the Governor-General has chosen someone from EDCP for such an award. Hearty congratulations, Peter!
