2011 UBC Faculty of Education Mathematics and Science Fair
On Saturday, November 5th, Department of Curriculum and Pedagogy had a very successful Faculty of Education Mathematics and Science Fair. The event took place as part of the UBC Celebrate Learning Week 2011. Over the course of 3 hours we had more than 200 guests from Vancouver, Delta, Vancouver Island, Chilliwack, North Van, New Westminster, Surrey, Abbotsford, Richmond, as well as South Korea, USA, China, Greece, France, Mexico and many other countries. More than 40 volunteers many of whom are teacher candidates, our own grad students, faculty and staff made the event possible! The second floor of Scarfe was buzzing with excitement – this was a dream come true! The children and their families enjoyed the event very much. We had to ask them to leave a number of times at the end of the day J. It was a hands-on day with many math and science stations all across EDCP science and math labs. However, the most exciting thing was how amazing our undergraduate and graduate students were. They were very knowledgeable, inspirational and creative mathematics and science educators. This was great!
