On May 9th and 10th, The Louisiana State University undertook a big celebration to honour the life-time contributions to curriculum theory of Bill Pinar and Bill Doll. It is such a tremendous privilege for us in the Department of Curriculum and Pedagogy (EDCP) to be able to interact with these formidable intellectual giants as our close colleagues. What a privilege! Thank you Bill and Bill!

Masters Cohort in
CURRICULUM STUDIES WITH SUSTAINABILITY FOCUS

Ecojustice and Sustainability

Recently, the Dean and Heads in the Faculty of Education agreed to launch two offerings in sustainability: The EDST department undertook to develop an undergraduate certificate and the EDCP department was invited to develop a graduate offering in Curriculum Studies, both with a focus on sustainability. This announcement launches the EDCP part of the Faculty initiative. See link for details.

For the coming year, EDCP will provide a group of courses and supplemental educational experiences, within our Masters of Curriculum Studies, that focus on sustainability. Students pursuing this focus will study topics such as social justice, eco-technologies, aesthetics, and place-based service learning in urban/rural communities.

Following evaluation of this focus area within the Master of Curriculum Studies, we anticipate developing a proposal for a degree program in Sustainability. For the current offering, students pursuing the Sustainability focus will receive a letter from the Department (on successful completion of the Masters of Curriculum Studies) detailing the coursework and experience they have pursued.
