Anne Phelan is one of two professors who are employed in EDCP as Teacher Educators (the other is Professor Tony Clarke). Among her other contributions to Teacher Education, Anne directs the Principles of Teaching (EDUC 310/311), a required course for all elementary and secondary teacher candidates in the B.Ed program.

My dissertation research is a conceptual analysis of cosmopolitanism and education. I place ethical responsibility to global risks (turned catastrophe) at the center of a cosmopolitan education. Such an ethic draws from the faculty of judgment and the heart’s compassion.

Trudy Bergère, PhD, MSc (Biochemistry), was keen to broaden her professional horizons. As a faculty member with Georgian College’s University Partnership Centre, she teaches science to Laurentian University students, many of whom plan to be elementary school teachers. Trudy credits EDCP for helping her to establish a research programme exploring how prospective teachers, as non-science majors, develop conceptions about the nature of science.
