15th Canadian Symposium – Home Economics Highlights

What happens when you get Home Economics educators into one space?

You have a symposium where there is an exchange of ideas around families, food textiles, design, technology, and truth and reconciliation.

UBC hosted the XV Canadian Symposium – Home Economics on February 22 – 24, 2019 in The Nest. Attended by over 70 delegates that arrived from across Canada as well as a growing international contingent from Malta, Egypt, Kenya Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, and Japan.

Beginning with a keynote presentation by Dr. Nancy Turner, Emeritus Professor University of Victoria speaking on “Our food is our medicine”, additional presentations across the program included design thinking; eco-pedagogy and eco-literacy; critical food literacy; post-disaster living and industrialization of the home.
